at the sonoma county sherrifs deptarment in santa rosa -- dan you just heard from investigators? >> reporter: can they tell us that the number one of violent crime in this county have to do with marijuana. they are adding another bloody vicious triple murder to that list. >> sheriff's officials say gunmen down were found and were victims of a drug deal gone very wrong >> reporter:after dealing with these last three victims, they believe the y were part of a deal. i could describe the scene as there being a lot of blood, with three gunshot victims. >> reporter: the three victims have been identified as richard blum of new york crowd at ground house key crod gronkosiki from colorado. it was the house of someone's mother, who had been living there for many years. while investigators think the shooting happened midday, it was not until 3:15 p.m. they received a phone call to the authorities from his brothers. he was concerned that he had not heard from him in over six hours. authorities are following up on leads says, searching for suspects but they will not say at this point. autopsies on the v

in santa rosa. upstream, it is a cold system. there is snow in the higher elevation. there is light rain in the lower elevation. the breakdown today in the movement of the rain, the rain is in the north bay through 7:00. it moves across the bay and to the south bay from 7:00 to noon. it will exit the south bay at 1:00 o'clock. the showers will develop toward 4:00. thunder is possible out out of s this with a snow level that drops to around 2,500' in the evening and overnight hours. beyond this system, we have a few showers in the morning tomorrow. there is some thunder mostly to the south. the weekend is mostly sunny with temperatures hitting the mid-50's to around 60. sue? >> we have road work in richmond area to powell street and berkeley and emeryville in the right lanes of highway 80. that now is cleared. east shore commute is looking good and at the limit to the macarthur maze. otherwise, we have road work eastbound dumbarton bridge until 6:00 this morning. no westbound road work is reported. northbound 87, the ramp to northbound 280 at san jose, that is partly blocked because of co

light rain around coverdale, just north of santa rosa. eastern santa rosa could be picking up light rain. you will see a lot of it on highway 1 01 approaching the eat heels bird area. the yellow indicates moderate to heavy rain, it depends on where you are located. and apart in petaluma looks like they're under dry conditions. rain will continue to spread its way south. it's the systems cold front will start to break apart as it crosses the golden gate bridge. satellite and radar shows not much moisture associated with this system. we will pick up some snow not only in tahoe where we are expecting up to 5 in. but it looks like we could see snow that will drop in the bay area down to 2,500 ft.. we could see a light dusting of snow on top of mount hamilton. a lot of clouds and cool air associated with this system. future cast force shows right now the rain is to our north. it will continue to spread its way south for at least half of the bay area until 8:00 a.m.. 8:00 p.m. this evening, a lingering showers for most of us. snow in the lake tahoe area. we should be on the driver's side wakin

the radar returns from petaluma and valley ford road to occidental and santa rosa and cloverdale headed mostly from west to east the next couple of hours. the temperatures show mostly dry but cooler with upper 30's around fairfield, napa, livermore and redwood city and los gatos. 48 in oakland and 47 in san francisco. santa cruz at 41, the cooler spots in the low-to-mid 40's and inland, salinas is 46. today, we have rain through the morning hours and a scattering of showers in the afternoon, evening,or night hours where this is enough energy for thunder and small hail and snow down to 2,500'. when the storm passes we will have warmer weather for the weekend and sunshine. the cold front is coming down, the steady rain initially and behind that is the low pressure, and we will get the energy for the thunderstorms and the possibility of hail and snow levels that are very low. through 9:00 or 10:00 you can see the rain is in the north bay and it moves through the heart of the bay from 9:00 through 1:00 o'clock and the exits the south by at 2:00 with scattered showers in the evening and over

santa rosa scattered showers showing up toward bodega bay but more sliding southward throughout the day today and it looks like it's going to stay unsettled today and into tomorrow. snow levels to 2500 feet tonight and tomorrow morning. so one of the coldest systems we have seen in a while. 38 degrees in livermore right now, 43 in santa rosa. by the afternoon we are going to keep it cool and brisk outside. highs yesterday in the 50s and low 60s. today much cooler. we are going to be struggling to get into the 50s around parts of the bay area. colder over the mountaintops and more showers on the way, too, gianna. >> all right, don't forget those jackets today. jumping over to mass transit right now, everything is right on time as far as bart, muni, caltrain and ace trains go this morning. we are getting reports though of the vallejo ferry is using bus shuttle service this morning due to mechanical problems so plan for that. elsewhere lots of roadwork this morning. live look at the golden gate bridge not a lot of cars on the road this morning

have a weak system producing some rain in santa rosa and if you are getting some rain, you can always tweet me. that is absolutely the best way to get in touch with me. yesterday it was sunny, nice, i know the mornings were cold but temperatures on the high side, town to friday and then next wednesday is sunny and warm. the 10 day outlook is dry and this system will not have much rain either but it has a lot of cold air. 30s and 40s here, some 30s on the lows and one woman said it is always colder there. moffett you can find colder temperatures. we appreciate the system dropping in and we get a sun break and then it turns colder showery and windy. 50s on the temperatures, low 50s and upper 40s in mendocino county and maybe parts of lake county and a little warmer to the south but not a lot. cold air arrives friday and most of the cloud activity should be over the mountains over and off the coast and sunny on the weekend and windy and cold, a little breezy and warmer sunday and monday. >>> 5:09 california officials are praying for rain in march. november and december we had pretty good

of showers for many of you towards santa rosa, yountville, tomorrow. san jose clear skies. san francisco only 51 degrees. kind of chilly today. it's average for early february but there's a little chill in the air. we have clear skies over the city, as well. livermore you're at 51. san jose 51. concord 52. santa rosa 53. radar is clear now. i think by about midnight tonight we'll see showers a few hours to our north and west and by the time lawrence has the forecast for you tomorrow morning, it will be raining in the north bay hills. we could use it. the average rainfall between christmas and now is about 5" even in san francisco. we're at 1/10 of that or 10% less than one half of one inch. we could use more. you and i both know that we are very dry in the summertime. we add up the rain in the winter to get us through the dry summers. fremont 40. san francisco 48 overnight. there's a problem with this front though. some fronts have the ability to tap into some tropical moisture, the stuff to our south. some fronts just kind of scoot by and give us

with seasonal averages when it comes to lows, 42 degrees in santa rosa. 44 in concord. we do have a cold front on the way. just a few hours away now from bringing in some pretty significant rainfall especially to areas in sonoma county and to marin. that will be the case as we head through 8:00 a.m. right in the heart of your morning drive the showers start to move to the south. you can see right now a nice, dry bay area. that's good news for you early risers out the door early. want to tell you what will happen through the next couple days. low pressure system crosses to our north. it will fall apart as it moves over the bay area. i think the biggest component of this system is the very cold air that trails behind that front. cold blast settles in. we don't get out of the cold until potentially wednesday of next week. want to let everybody know out there, gentlemen, men, boys, guys, one week before valentine's day arrives. don't you forget it. 54 degrees in livermore. 53 in fremont. 56 in los gatos. lots happening around here this weekend. it will be dry but a cold. temperatures still hoverin

some rain, napa, marin. up toward santa rosa. about a quarter, three quarters of an inch but that's been to the north. system doesn't have a lot of moisture so it'll only be hit and miss. for those who maybe have travel plans to boston or new york you may want to wait it out. a huge system will come out and they are looking for two to three feet of snow. just to give you a heads up. this system, then we will break and then the next part rotates in, that's the cold air.  30s and 40s on the temperatures, some of them, this will go up, some of the cloud cover starting to comen. napa is 11 degrees warmer. there is the system that will give us a lot of clouds and a little bit of rain. winter weather starts at 10:00 a.m. not a lot of snow but the wind is up over the passes and some of the ridges and then snow source showers on friday. for us today highs in the low 50s to the north or upper 40s and then 50s to the south as clouds increase. some rain but some sun mix later on and then really cold tonight, tomorrow, coldest area round noon on friday. i mean it's going to struggle tomorr

at last check. livermore right now 51 degrees. santa rosa 54, san francisco checking in 53. as far as rain fall totals not too impressive, san francisco a 10th of an inch, oakland 0.06 and san jose 2/100s of an inch. >>> a sun-cloud mix and a chance for showers this afternoon but a better bet the next round there is another round that moves in for this evening. tomorrow the chance of a shower cool out there, the weekend will be dry but the cool and breezy weather conditions stick around. here is the satellite and radar. first this front moving in earlier this morning. our nix cold batch of air moves in, unstable air this, could trigger thunderstorms later on this evening and possibly some low snow levels here in the bay area down to about 2500 feet. here is our forecast model at 5:00. not a lot to show you but look at this band just offshore. you will notice it does move into the evening hours by 9:00 and even as we do head into the early morning hours of friday scattered showers and a possibility of thunderstorms, basically just into friday morning. >>> this will be a snow produce

rainfall will be those commuters up in the north bay, throughout santa rosa and novey vat total. gradually the rain is going to step off to the south. more of this definitive line as we head throughout the morning hours. also for the peninsula. and then back throughout the south bay. you may not actually get some rain until about 11:00 in the morning in the noon hour, and also 1:00 p.m. throughout the evening hours, we'll keep that chance of showers in the forecast. so basically, you need that umbrella throughout the entire day there on thursday, and also remember that jacket. but here is where it gets extremely interesting for bay area standards. 5:00 a.m. on friday we'll have a few lingering showers across the peninsula. maybe a little back across the east bay. temperatures in the low 30s close to the freezing mark. we may actually get some very rare low snow. it is not much, but from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 in the morning on friday, it's not much, 0.01 of snow on the surface. i think our best chance in livermore and san jose to see any snow would be more of a rain/snow mix there early on frid

. it hasn't always been a shining moment for rising stars in the past. david frum joins me along with rosa brooks. i'm sorry, this just made me chuckle. david, i started thinking back to bobby jindal in 2009. panned by democrats and republicans alike. people were so nasty. they were picking on the way he walked out to the podium. it was pretty harsh.
